Positive Behaviour Policy

Behaviour Principles Statement

We have a positive approach to all aspects of behaviour which is underpinned by our:

  • Wellbeing curriculum
  • Use of Jigsaw programme and materials
  • Assemblies linked to Wellbeing curriculum
  • High focus on staff developing positive relationships with children
  • Clear and consistent routines in classrooms, around the school and in the wider
    community
  • High expectations from staff about conduct in class and around the school
  • Golden Rules (Jenny Mosley ©)

Our Golden Rules are introduced and embedded through stories, posters and assemblies:

  • We listen; we don’t interrupt
  • We are gentle; we don’t hurt others
  • We are kind and helpful; we don’t hurt anyone’s feelings
  • We are honest; we don’t cover up the truth
  • We work hard; we don’t waste time
  • We look after property; we don’t damage things

Our agreed whole school strategies include:

  • Verbal praise
  • Good looking, good listening, good sitting, good turn taking visual symbols (EYFS &
    KS1 or as required)
  • Buddy Bench (Year 6 buddies)
  • Team points (on Class Dojo)
  • Golden Rules
  • Golden Time
  • Headteacher’s Award
  • Celebration Assembly - "Star of the Week" awards

All children are part of a team and they collect points for their school team through their positive behavior. Our school teams are:

  • Excellent Emeralds
  • Remarkable Rubies
  • Super Sapphires
  • Terrific Topaz
